Where will the bodywork session take place?
Your bodywork session will take place in Office F, Unit 8 in the Swansboro Plaza building: 714 W Corbett Avenue, Swansboro, NC 28584.
Must I be completely undressed?
Bodywork techniques or treatment are performed over the clothes or on the exposed skin while remaining clothed. Workout type clothing (shorts, sweat pants, yoga pants, etc.) are requested. Should it be required (rarely) you will be properly draped during the entire session.
What kinds of bodywork should I expect?
I practice Muscle Energy Technique (from Applied Postural Mechanics), Deep Bodywork-style tissue work, CranioSacral Therapy, and Visceral Manipulation. At least one of these will be used during a session. During initial intake and before each session, we will set out the areas of concern to be worked on. Based on the area on the body of work, structural relationship, severity of issue, etc we will determine a best style of work and will discuss which methods may be most appropriate for you.
What should I do during the bodywork session?
Prior to bodywork therapy, feel free to ask the therapist any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the session, make yourself comfortable and let them know if any discomfort arises. It is important you communicate any discomfort or negative change you experience during a session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.
How will I feel after the bodywork session?
Most experience freedom from long-term aches and pains or imbalance developed from tension or repetitive activity. Depending on the style of work, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater ability to move which can last for days. Depending on the length of the issue and the type of work received, results may be immediate or appear over time.
Are there any medical conditions that would make bodywork inadvisable?
Yes. That's why it's imperative that, before you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is advised you consult with them about any issues that could come up. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.
Can I bill insurance for my session?
Health Savings Account cards are accepted. Unfortunately, no other insurance option is currently available in North Carolina at the present time. However, you can contact your health care insurance about new programs in wellness or complimentary medicine that may have been created. Please let me know if you come up with something!
